AFS Cinema: 6259 Middle Fiskville Rd Austin, TX 78752 Get Directions
Join Mama Sana Vibrant Woman for an evening of film, dialogue, and community as we screen TEDDY, a powerful documentary spotlighting a male doula in Houston and expanding the narrative of who provides care in the birth space.
This event serves as the community closeout to Mama Sana Vibrant Woman’s Amplify Austin campaign, following Amplify Austin Day (March 4–5, 6pm–6pm). Central Texas’ largest collective day of giving. As the giving window closes, we come together to reflect, celebrate, and deepen our commitment to maternal justice and community-rooted care.

Following the screening, a panel of birthworkers, including Teddy & the documentary director, will explore diversity in the doula workforce, birth justice, and culturally responsive care, centering voices often excluded from traditional maternal health systems. Together, we’ll examine what it truly means to “hold birth” and how community-led models improve outcomes for families.
The evening will also mark the launch of registration for Mama Sana Vibrant Woman’s upcoming Community Doula Training, continuing our legacy of training community members as doulas and strengthening advocacy within the perinatal care ecosystem.
